ASPEN PUMPS NEWS, DECEMBER 2011
Meet: Rudi Harders
EUROPE, MIDDLE EAST AND ASIA SALES MANAGER

As Aspen's EMEA Sales Manager I am responsible for researching, and establishing successful and fruitful relationships with potential distributors. The best relationships are always mutual ones.

My most used catchphrase is:
'Yes leave that to me I will deal with that today no problem!'

My wife has got wise to that phrase at home so I end up being head chef and dishwasher out of working hours!!

Q & A

What do you like most about working at Aspen? Every one is friendly, proud of Aspen and interested in what others are doing to find new markets and new business opportunities. It is very pleasant to see people allowed to do what they are best at and encouraged to do so through progressive and encouraging staff management.

What events led you to Aspen? An independent third party. I am in the official fan club of that third party as joining Aspen has turned out to be the best decision that I have made since I met the lady who is now my wife!!

What is the first thing you do when you get to work? I put myself on an 'early' shift as most of the countries I deal with are anything from 4 to 8 hours ahead of UK time. So my mobile is on by 6am and my emails are being answered by 7.30am.

What is your proudest achievement? Setting up 2 new factories in China and an agency/distributor network covering 35 countries all within 2 years. Plus getting everything to run smoothly and profitably. I am hoping that in 3 years I can surpass the above in some way with Aspen.

What is your favourite quote? Never had one really. Though I love comedy shows and hear some real crackers weekly but can never remember them!

My Philosophy in life is always smile (someone may be watching), always be proactive and positive, think 'I can' and 'I will' and more often than not that works (it does for me). Never say no or I can't."

Who is your role model? Never thought about one. I was just brought up to be the best person that I could be given the abilities that I was taught or had in me.

Do you have any hobbies? I am a very active person as I cook regularly, always do the family shopping, play golf whenever I can, keep fit, watch lots of live sport such as football and rugby.

Do you have any talents? I used to hold a professional boxing referee's licence, was a county standard tennis player and still play to single handicap at golf. I am told I am a very good cook.

What is your favourite holiday destination (why)? Thailand because the following is great; climate, weather, food, people, countryside, golf courses plus it is cheap!

What is your favorite food? Thai, Chinese and some European though at home we cook mainly Asian food.

What/who is your favourite concert experience? Flew to NY to see Bruce Springsteen at the NY Giants Stadium in front of 80,000 people. He was on stage 3 hours 20 minutes for a 75 USD ticket. Incredible entertainer!!

What is your favorite memory? My wedding in Thailand at a most beautiful Buddhist Temple called Wat Phikun Thong. A most wonderfully moving experience.
